Chimney Sweeps

It is recommended to get your chimney cleaned annually for insurance purposes.  This is to ensure any birds’ nests or dead animals, that may have found a way into your chimney over the summer period while the fire wasn’t in use, are removed before lighting your fireplace again.

We suggest burning dry wood only.  Dry wood meaning that the tree that you source your firewood from needs to have fell at least 12 months prior to use.  Also, dry wood means it needs to be stored in a dry place.  Often clients get their firewood prepared before fire season, but store it outside in the elements – so when winter comes around and the wood is used, the chimney is prone to get blocked soon after because the moisture causes the soot to creosote the chimney therefore making the fire hard to ignite and a resulting in a smokey fire.

We have NZ Home Heating Association approved woodfire technicians that can sweep your chimney, inspect your fire box for safety and replace broken parts if required.  We keep a large stock of woodfire parts and flue in our shop at 102 Jervois Street, Dargaville.  Click here to book your fire safety inspection now.
